Research and Development

  • 2014 – Nero: Noumena

    Through the use of drones (UAV), we generate mapping cartographies, overlapping different layers of data in order to offer a valuable tool for designers, urban planners and municipalities for reading and visualizing environmental condition and detect critical conditions. By the use of several system of data recollection, from on board sensors to photogrammetry try and camera filters. Our research allows us to install sensors that can detect CO, NO2, Temperature, Pressure and more. Our drone as well cameras with specific filters in order to generate NDVI and Thermal Analysis pictures. After collecting data from the air, we move on to a process of computation where data is translated into accessible information, geo referenced in order to be site-specific and generate a precise mapping instrument. One of the targets is to develop an interactive tool for the real–time visualization of all information recollected by the drone. The visualization tool is a based dynamic model which builds up the space the components generate, where through data crossing behavior patterns emerge.

  • 2014 – DumO: Barcelona Regional

    In the twenty-first century, urban planning is necessary to introduce concepts and methodologies for designing low-emissions cities. Barcelona Regional DumO has developed a tool to help architects, urban planners and engineers to design new urban areas with the aim of minimizing the energy demand of buildings. DumO, by a process of evolutionary design and parametric optimization alternatives has generated the most desired objectives. So, the inclusion of energy efficiency criteria and use of local energy resources, as heretofore improved the bottom line, and now is incorporated in the early stages.

  • 2013 – Eolic: Barcelona Regional

    Over recent years, wind power in Catalonia has opted for large wind farms basically an economic logic that has identified areas where there is greater wind potential. So, to encourage the development of large wind power in Catalonia over the last thirty years, various maps of wind potential have been carried out, most of them to heights from 60 meters ultimately the heights suitable for high power wind turbines. This study aims to cover an area up till now unexplored, developing the modeling of wind potential at low altitudes (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 meters above the ground) to have a clear picture of the potential for energy generating small wind turbines. Furthermore, to also calculates the potential in urban areas.

  • 2012 – FabClay: IaaC

    Research aimed to explore a new digital fabrication system which is fully optimized, adaptive and human independent system. The aim was changing the logic of built by human as a constructor to machine, the project investigates the aspects associated in its technological possibilities. Starting with traditional research methods of building with simple and accessible materials and continuing to expand on the connections between structure and digital processes, the conception provides the capabilities to execute complex shapes emerging from mechanical performances and material possibilities, by exploring the behavior of tangible substances. Potential is given to the rise in developing prototypes that can achieve a variation of different species in terms of scale, form and function.
